The Story
How did I get here?
Born and raised in Lake Worth Florida, I grew up with a love for God and for music. Up until I was 13 I was certain I would be in the NBA. Didn’t even pick up a guitar until my senior year of high school when an ACL injury in basketball playoffs placed my off my feet for a few months. Mom traded in my barely played bass for an acoustic guitar and I began my awkward journey in music. 4 years later after earning a bachelor’s degree at the University of Central Florida in education the Lord immediately took me into the ministry as a Worship Leader for the Central Florida Wesley Foundation. I fell in love with worshiping the Lord in small groups and mentoring worship leaders. During my time at Wesley I attended Asbury Seminary. I was planning on finishing up my degree when I felt the Lord’s leading to move out to Kansas City to attend the Music Academy pioneered by Derek Loux at the IHOP-KC. I’ve been here in Kansas City for 5 years now giving myself fully to ministering to the Lord and the Church worldwide. By God’s grace I will be in the House of the Lord until the return of Jesus.
What do I do here?
As one of the head worship leaders here I work 50 hours per week in House of Prayer. The main focus of my work is in the place of prayer. I get to spend 24 hours a week contending for the church, revival, restoration as well as many justice issues. A normal work day for me would begin with coming to the prayer room at 10 am to intercede followed by a time of study in a particular passage that I am singing through with my team. By 130pm I am leading my team through a briefing discussing the scripture we will be singing through for the 2pm. We then take the next 2 hours on stage at IHOP-KC and sing through the word responsively along with the prayer leader. Our main focus while being on stage is singing/ministering to the Lord from His own words (the scripture). In the process we lead the room and those viewing on the web stream in singing to the Lord though the word of God. At 4pm we debrief and talk through the different avenues we took during singing as well as any difficulties we faced in singing through the passage. Then I am back in the prayer room praying for the salvation of Israel and for my supporters until 6pm. I love my job.
Why am I still here(in a House of Prayer)?
I am always asked this question. The simple answer is Jesus Christ is worthy of unending adoration from His people. This is my small way of being a part of that. All over the earth God is raising up a prayer and worship movement singing and praying to the Lord.
In addition to this I know that God answers prayer. When His people who are called by His name gather in fasting and prayer (His terms) He actually hears, and responds. I’ve had testimonies, too many to be listed of answered prayer. This is why I stand day in and day out praying for revival and for the church to be strengthened in the earth.
